is about to be presented the first hybrid engine designed specifically for boating, the idea comes from the manufacturer Steyr-Motors in collaboration with yard Fauscherboats bring the first unit at the show "Boot" in Düsseldorf in Germany next January.
The basic concept is the same as the engine of the Toyota Prius : an electric propulsion will push the boat at low speeds, for example for the maneuvers in port and for low speed, then to a greater demand for power will come into operation the combustion engine which may well be helped by ensuring dall'elettrico fuel consumption.
The idea is not bad, is a first step towards a more sustainable marine and greater respect for the environment, I remain nevertheless that the most ecological go to sea are the sails, but I appreciate the effort.
